Constructivism

This is a webpage dedicated to Constructivism (usually european). I made it because I think that its very interesting to learn about, and I want to have the information and images all in one place (big kudos to Monoskop.org for a lot of the images, files, and information)

"Constructivism is an early twentieth-century art movement founded in 1915 by Vladimir Tatlin and Alexander Rodchenko. Abstract and austere, constructivist art aimed to reflect modern industrial society and urban space. The movement rejected decorative stylization in favour of the industrial assemblage of materials. Constructivists were in favour of art for propaganda and social purposes, and were associated with Soviet socialism, the Bolsheviks and the Russian avant-garde."

Varvara Fyodorovna Stepanova worked on many Constructivist projects, including several sportwear designs, pictured in the second and third images. Beside this box, there is an image of her with Lyubov Popova.

She is one of my greatest art inspirtations. I love her use of color, especially the deep blue in her earlier pieces.
